With city elections coming up for six towns across the county in April, only voters in Ardmore and Lone Grove will get to choose their local leadership as most other city boards in Carter County saw no challengers to current office holders.
The filing period for prospective candidates in city board races for Lone Grove, Ratliff City, Springer, Dickson, Healdton and Ardmore ran from Monday through Wednesday this week and saw few new names added to the list of municipal leadership.
In Ardmore, Mayor Nancy Sjulin is being challenged for her Ward 1 seat by Scott Stahl. Commissioner Sheryl Ellis representing Ward 4, however, was unchallenged and will retain her seat on the Ardmore City Commission for another three years.

Lone Grove City Council incumbent Mickey Davis is being challenged by Kaci Hill for that Ward 5 seat, while Richard Welch was the lone candidate who filed for the unexpired Ward 5 seat vacated by Butch Kinslow.
Springer incumbents Terri Gilio, Sarah Warner, and Brandon Roberts will all retain trustee positions unchallenged, while Wilson aldermen Kevin Stearns and Stan Harris also retain their positions.
Dickson seat 2 Councillor David Huhman will remain on that town council, and one open Ratliff City trustee position will go to Richard J. Wright.
Kenneth Crawford was the lone candidate who filed for the Healdton council seat 4, while nobody filed for the open seat 3 in Healdton.
Board of Education, statutory and municipal elections will be held on April 1. Voters wishing to cast ballots in those local elections must be registered to vote by March 7.
