The Springer Post Office was established in 1890, just months after the infamous Oklahoma land rush. Like many Carter County towns after the turn of the 20th century, Springer almost entirely burned in 1910 when a fire had started at the post office.
Springer today sits just off Interstate 35 and is home to shops, the Springer Public School system, and is nearby the Ardmore Dragway.
