Lone Grove started as a small community in 1885 and, like many other communities across Carter County around the turn of the 20th century, was devastated by fire in November 1899. Lone Grove was one of many towns that boomed during the 1920s and 1930s as oil fields drove the southern Oklahoma economy.¹

Today Lone Grove is home to one of the largest school districts in the county and is home to dozens of stores and businesses.
