As the sun rose over Ardmore on Thursday, snow and temperatures dropped. The National Weather Service on Thursday forecast between 4 and 8 inches of snow to accumulate by Friday morning.
Major roads through Ardmore were mostly passable before 10 a.m. and may intersections appear to have been treated with sand, but drivers crept along at slow speeds as snow accumulated on roadways. By 1 p.m., cars were seen losing traction along Rockford Road near the intersection with Cloverleaf Lane.
Fire Department Love County said Interstate 35 southbound at mile marker three was shut down, according to a social media post shortly before 11 a.m.
Ardmore city offices are scheduled to close at noon on Thursday and will remain closed on Friday, according to a statement on the city’s official Facebook page. Schools in the Ardmore and Plainview districts were closed on Thursday.
